FAQExporting all your chats

Does Gemini have an export button?

Only for one response: Gemini exports it to Docs, Gmail or Sheets. For every chat, go to takeout.google.com, choose Deselect all, then select Gemini Apps under My Activity. It’s a one-time archive; Carry saves each chat as its own Markdown file instead.

FAQChanging accounts or losing access

Which Google account does Carry save Gemini chats from?

The account Gemini opens first, the one at /u/0. Carry stays with the account it first read; if a different account is signed in first, it stops and asks you to log back in. Chats in your other Google accounts aren’t saved.

FAQObsidian

How do I get my AI chats into Obsidian without copying them by hand?

Obsidian Web Clipper saves one chat per click, and Nexus AI Chat Importer turns each app’s data export into notes. Both are snapshots you redo when a chat grows. A tool that saves on its own, such as Carry, keeps each note current.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How do I download all my Gemini chats?

Go to takeout.google.com signed in to your Gemini account, choose Deselect all, then select Gemini Apps under My Activity. Pick a zip or tgz. It’s a one-time archive; to keep a copy current, Carry saves each chat as a Markdown file in a folder you choose. Source: Google’s help article

Does Gemini have an export button?

For one response, yes: export it to Docs, Gmail or Sheets. Google doesn’t describe exporting a whole chat. For every chat, use Google’s data download or Carry, which saves each as a Markdown file. Source: Google’s help article on exporting responses

How do I save Gemini conversations to Obsidian?

Install the Carry Chrome extension, pick your Obsidian vault folder and connect Gemini. Each chat is saved as a Markdown file with a link back, updated when the chat changes, about every two hours while your browser is open.

More: How do I get my AI chats into Obsidian without copying them by hand?

Which Google account does Carry save?

The account Gemini opens first (/u/0). Carry keeps to the account it first read; if a different one is signed in first, it stops and asks you to log in. Other accounts’ chats aren’t saved.

Does Carry save Gemini notebooks?

Yes, with Save projects on (the default). A notebook becomes a folder with its chats, instructions.md, files and an index note. The trial takes a notebook it reaches whole, with its chats, instructions and files, when it holds 25 chats or fewer. Website and YouTube sources are listed in the index note, not downloaded yet.

Does Carry save images, files and Canvas pages?

Yes: uploads and what Gemini makes, from PDF and Word to images, audio and video, with the file access Carry asks for when you connect. Canvas documents and Deep Research reports are saved in the chat’s note at their latest version. Thinking summaries and web images aren’t saved.

Can I move my Gemini chats to Claude?

Not as chats: Claude can’t import them into its chat list. Save the chats you need as Markdown files and add them to a Claude project, where Claude uses them in every chat inside it.

Is it free?

Free for 14 days, no card. Then $59 once, no subscription, with a 14-day refund. The trial saves your newest 25 chats; a license saves your whole history. When the trial ends, saving stops and your saved files stay yours.

More: Pricing

Does Carry upload my chats?

No. Your chats and files stay in the folder you pick. There’s no Carry account or API key: Carry uses your Gemini login and asks for access to gemini.google.com and three Google file hosts only when you connect. It fetches a signed compatibility file from carry.md and sends usage counts, never your content; you can turn the counts off. Activating a license contacts the store that sells it.
